    Great Product

I love the fact that I can replace the ear cushions on my RS 170s when they wear out, and not forced to buy a whole new pair of headsets. I have my RS 170s for 4 years now and I had no issues with the ear cushions. I bought replacements because the mounting tabs on one ear cushion broke due to 4 years of normal wear and tear. I take care of my audio equipment, so I don't understand how other users complain that the mounting tabs are badly designed and break frequently. But I digress.

    PRO:

Very comfortable and durable. The ability to replace the ear cushion, stead of replacing the entire headset.

    CON:

    None that I know of.

    BEST USES:

    BOTTOM LINE:

I would recommend this to a friend.

    Terrible Earpad

It would be a little easier to sell earpads if the price were lowered to $20.00 a pair or even lower.

    PRO:

Earpads have good padding support while wearing them.

    CON:

The little tabs tend to break of when you either attempt to take off the earpads to change batteries or put the earpads back on after changing the batteries. I have went through 2 pairs of them in the last year, and at the price they are asking for a pair.

    BEST USES:

    BOTTOM LINE:

I would recommend this to a friend.

Design flaw that the customer pays for

First off, the tabs on the plastic earpiece break way too easily. I've lost track of how many I've purchased over five years between my RS 160's and RS 180's, but it's at LEAST five? or six? replacement earpiece's now. When I contacted Sennheiser to complain about the poor design I was told they were breaking due to my being too forceful. That's a joke. No matter how careful you are with these when spinning them off, they will break easily. This is nothing more than a design flaw and a ripoff to have to keep replacing them at $32 a pop.

    PRO:

This part "Part OP - RS 160" fits both my RS 160's and RS 180's. Don't spend more on the RS 180 disk's if you're ordering to replace them. These disk's fit the 160's, 170's, and 180's. Sennheiser just jacks the price on disk's for the 180's.

    CON:

way too expensive for a replacement part, and they break way too easily. Checkout price for me after tax in BC Canada is $31.60. Multiply that by five or six for how many times I've had to replace them on my RS 160's and RS 180's and I have the cost of a new pair of headphones. While I like the phones I would never ever again support Sennheiser after the experience of owning the 160's and 180's and being charged a gross premium to replace what are defective parts from a design flaw.

    BEST USES:

Best use is for rich people who have money to throw away on an over-priced poorly designed, flawed product that they will spend considerable money replacing parts on.

    BOTTOM LINE:

I would not recommend this to a friend.
